About

Let’s face it, classical music isn’t always “easy listening.” Sometimes, we may believe, through the words of NPR radio hosts and others, that the music is supposed to be relaxing or soothing. But Beethoven bigs to differ. Other times, we envision the music of symphonic instruments as epic and dramatic, only to be confronted with guys like Johann Strauss.

Unfortunately, many today do not listen to these pieces because of such misconceptions — especially the idea that classical music is one-dimensional. This is simply not true. Ovations hopes to demonstrate that there is classical music for everybody. Through seeking out and commenting on great performances, I hope to show that the music is indeed accessible and easy to understand — so long as you know what to look for.
